Coolibar's Medical Advisory Board

Our Medical Advisory Board provides advice to the company regarding UV radiation, sunburn, and the science of detecting, preventing, and treating skin cancer and other UV-related medical disorders, such as lupus. Current members of Coolibar’s Medical Advisory Board are listed below.

Shauna Kranendonk, M.D., is a dermatologist in private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where she specializes in surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Kranendonk has been a regular speaker on television and radio programs discussing skin cancer and skin aging. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons as well as a member of the Florida Dermatology Association, Palm Beach Dermatology Association and the Skin Cancer Foundation. Dr. Kranendonk completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Minnesota and her Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Rhondi Meiusi, M.D., is an ophthalmologist in private practice in Edina, Minnesota. She is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Hennepin County Medical Society, Minnesota Academy of Ophthamology and Women in Ophthamology. Meiusi completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota after she received her Doctor of Medicine from Mayo Medical School in 1987. She has participated in ophthamology missions in Ecuador, Mexico, and West Africa. In 2000, Dr. Meiusi was listed as one of the “top docs” in ophthalmology by Minneapolis St. Paul magazine.

Steven E. Prawer, M.D., is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota and has a clinical practice at Skin Care Specialists, P.A. in Minnesota. He has authored or coauthored many articles in medical journals and has received numerous awards from the American Academy of Dermatology. Prawer completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Minnesota after receiving his doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science degrees. He was President of the Minnesota Dermatological Society in 2003. He is very active in medical education and lectures extensively to medical students, residents, dermatologists as well as primary care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practioners. Dr. Prawer was listed as one of the "top docs" in dermatology by Minneapolis St. Paul magazine.

Albert Lester Rosenthal, M.D., is a dermatologist in private practice in Trenton, New Jersey and an attending dermatologist at Mercer Hospital. He was chief dermatologist at Mercer Hospital from 1958 to 1993. Rosenthal is also currently a clinical professor of dermatology at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has contributed numerous articles on dermatology to medical journals and is a member of Marquis Who’s Who in America, Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine, and Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Area. He was recently appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to serve as the Executive Committee Secretary for the New Jersey State Museum Board of Trustees. Rosenthal received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University.

Hans Sander, M.D., F.A.C.P., has a full time private practice at Capitol Dermatology Associates in Austin, Texas. Dr. Sander has been a practicing dermatologist since 1986 when he completed his dermatology residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine as well as dermatology and is an attending physician at the Brakenridge Hospital, Outpatient Specialty Clinic. Sander received both a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine from Texas A & M University.

Maureen Pauly Utz, M.D., has a private general medical and surgical dermatology practice with an emphasis on diagnosis and prevention of skin cancer at Metropolitan Dermatology in Wayzata, Minnesota. Her experience as a lab technician from 1981 to 1982 at a Mayo Clinic Cancer Research laboratory sparked an interest that led her to focus on skin cancer in her dermatology practice. In 2001 Dr. Utz was listed as one of the “top docs” in dermatology by Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Minnesota Dermatologic Society and the Hennepin County Medical Society. Utz trained as a resident in dermatology and completed her dermatology residency and internal medicine internship at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine from 1986 to 1990. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University.
