Coolibar's Medical Advisory Board

Our Medical Advisory Board provides advice to the company regarding UV radiation, sunburn, and the science of detecting, preventing, and treating skin cancer and other UV-related medical disorders, such as lupus. Current members of Coolibar's Medical Advisory Board are listed below.

Jaime L. W. Davis, M.D., F.A.A.D.
Uptown Dermatology & Skin Spa P.A.; Minneapolis, MN
Dr. Jaime Davis is a board certified dermatologist, CEO and medical director of Uptown Dermatology & Skin Spa in Minneapolis where she practices all aspects of Dermatology. She trained at Mayo Medical School and Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and went on to join the Mayo Clinic Staff before opening her own private practice. Dr Davis has published numerous scientific articles and has presented her research internationally. She makes frequent appearances on KSTPs Twin Cities Live television show discussing a range of skin related topics and has been named "Best Doctor for Women" by Minnesota Monthly Magazine and named "TopDoc" by Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine. Dr. Davis is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, and the Minnesota Dermatologic Society.

Charles E. Crutchfield III, M.D., M.B.B., F.A.A.D.
Crutchfield Dermatology; Eagan, MN
Dr. Charles Crutchfield is a graduate of the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine, and holds both a Master's degree in Molecular Biology and Doctoral degree (MD) in Medicine. His post-graduate medical training included one year at the Gundersen Clinic and a three-year Dermatology residency at the University of Minnesota. He is a board certified dermatologist and active member of the American Medical Association, National Medical Association, Ramsey Medical Association, and American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Crutchfield specializes in the treatment of acne, psoriasis, skin cancer and ethnic skin diseases.

Dr. Crutchfield is currently a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, teaching medical students, residents, and other clinical physicians. Dr. Crutchfield is a regular speaker at many statewide and national medical conferences. He is a regular skin expert guest on several radio and television programs including CNN with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He lectures both at local, statewide and national medical conferences. Dr. Crutchfield has also been awarded the "Karis" humanitarian award from the Mayo Clinic, The "Editor's Award" from the Dermatology Nurses Association and the "Gold Triangle Award" from the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Crutchfield has been selected annually, by his peers, as a Top Doctor (Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine), Top Pediatric Dermatologist (Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine), Top Doctor for Women (Minnesota Monthly Magazine), "Best Doctors in America" (Best Doctors 2012) , "Best 10 Dermatologist in America"(Black Enterprise Magazine), "Top 21 African-American Physicians in the United States" (Atlanta Post), Top Doctors in the U.S (Consumer's Research Council of America), "America's Top Doctors" (Castle Connolly) and the 1st Physician Healthcare Hero Award (Medica, Twin Cities Business Journal and KARE 11 Televison).

Dr. Crutchfield is a member of the A.O.A. National Honor Medical Society. The medical students and the Minnesota Medical Foundation have selected him as the "Teacher of the Year" at the University of Minnesota Medical School on 3 separate occasions. Dr. Crutchfield is a major proponent of sun protection for all ages and all colors of skin.

Manju Elizabeth George, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.A.D.
Pediatric Dermatology of the Palm Beaches; Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Dr. Manju Elizabeth George is a board certified pediatric dermatologist who provides personalized care for children and young adults at her private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She attended medical school at Albany Medical College. Her post-graduate training includes a three year residency in Pediatrics at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, three year residency in Adult and Pediatric Dermatology at the University of Kansas and a one-year pediatric dermatology fellowship at Children's Mercy Hospital. Dr. George has been published in many dermatology periodicals and texts including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as given numerous talks pertaining to pediatric dermatology. Dr. George is on faculty at the University of Miami (Miller School of Medicine).

Shauna Kranendonk, M.D.

Shauna Kranendonk, M.D., is a board-certified dermatologist in private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where she specializes in cosmetic dermatology. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons. Dr. Kranendonk completed her Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin and her residency in dermatology at the University of Minnesota. This was followed by a fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Kranendonk has published numerous scientific articles on cosmetic dermatology and the treatment of scars. In addition, she has authored textbook chapters including the Procedural Dermatology series on Chemical Peels, and "Skin Rejuvenation" in the textbook Cosmesis of the Face and Jaw.

Rhondi Meiusi, M.D.

Rhondi Meiusi, M.D., is an ophthalmologist in private practice in Edina, Minnesota. She is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Hennepin County Medical Society, Minnesota Academy of Ophthamology and Women in Ophthamology. Meiusi completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota after she received her Doctor of Medicine from Mayo Medical School in 1987. She has participated in ophthamology missions in Ecuador, Mexico, and West Africa. In 2000, Dr. Meiusi was listed as one of the "top docs" in ophthalmology by Minneapolis St. Paul magazine.

Steven E. Prawer, M.D.
Associated Skin Care Specialists, P.A.; Fridley, MN
Steven E. Prawer, M.D., is a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Minnesota and has a clinical practice at Skin Care Specialists, P.A. in Minnesota. He has authored or coauthored many articles in medical journals and has received numerous awards from the American Academy of Dermatology. Prawer completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Minnesota after receiving his doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science degrees. He was President of the Minnesota Dermatological Society in 2003. He is very active in medical education and lectures extensively to medical students, residents, dermatologists as well as primary care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practioners. Dr. Prawer was listed as one of the "top docs" in dermatology by Minneapolis St. Paul magazine.

Hans Sander, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Capitol Dermatology Associates; Ausitn, TX
Hans Sander, M.D., F.A.C.P., has a full time private practice at Capitol Dermatology Associates in Austin, Texas. Dr. Sander has been a practicing dermatologist since 1986 when he completed his dermatology residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine as well as dermatology and is an attending physician at the Brakenridge Hospital, Outpatient Specialty Clinic. Sander received both a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine from Texas A & M University.

Maureen Pauly Utz, M.D.
Metro Derm. & Cutaneous Surgery; Wayzata, MN
Maureen Pauly Utz, M.D. has a private general medical and surgical dermatology practice with an emphasis on diagnosis and prevention of skin cancer at Metropolitan Dermatology in Wayzata, Minnesota. Her experience as a lab technician from 1981 to 1982 at a Mayo Clinic Cancer Research laboratory sparked an interest that led her to focus on skin cancer in her dermatology practice. In 2001 Dr. Utz was listed as one of the "top docs" in dermatology by Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Minnesota Dermatologic Society and the Hennepin County Medical Society. Utz trained as a resident in dermatology and completed her dermatology residency and internal medicine internship at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine from 1986 to 1990. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University.

Albert Lester Rosenthal, M.D.
Albert Lester Rosenthal, M.D., was instrumental in advising Coolibar from our company's beginning. Sadly, Dr. Rosenthal passed away in April 2011. We are grateful for his work and dedication to the practice of dermatology. He was chief dermatologist at Mercer Hospital from 1958 to 1993. Rosenthal was also a clinical professor of dermatology at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has contributed numerous articles on dermatology to medical journals and is a member of Marquis Who's Who in America, Marquis Who's Who in Medicine, and Castle Connolly's Top Doctors: New York Area. He was appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to serve as the Executive Committee Secretary for the New Jersey State Museum Board of Trustees. Rosenthal received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University.
