Distribution Lead

Job Summary

The Distribution Lead will help to support the day-to-day management responsibilities for the distribution team by acting as Lead to the Distribution Supervisor, ensuring all expectations are met regarding work safety, work area organization, employee motivation, product quality and productivity. The Lead will ensure that customer shipments go out on a timely basis and that orders are picked and packed accurately, avoiding any shipping errors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Run pick generation orders.
  • Under the direction of the supervisor, lead and routinely participate in pick and pack processes. Understand distribution process flow and allocate people to maintain productivity.
  • Lead and support quality in pick, pack, shipping, etc. processes, ensuring that appropriate processes are used to ensure accurate, on time delivery.
  • Participate in the leadership, training, and development of employees.
  • Act as shift supervisor on Sundays during the busy season (April-Aug) and in absence of the supervisor.
  • Liaison and interact with various shipping carriers and drivers: USPS, UPS, etc.
  • Recognizes damage to merchandise to avoid shipping faulty products to the customer. Communicate with supervisor and merchandising team regarding damage/quality issues.
  • Help with and ensure that all work areas are organized and clean.
  • Assist in training, development, and leadership to team members.
  • Track and give feedback to individual on QA stats.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to accommodate any customer issues and ensure they are handled in a timely and satisfactorily manner.
  • Be the point of contact or back-up on shipment coordination related to e-commerce and wholesale customers, Amazon, etc. Collaborate with employees from other departments on orders to ensure timely and accurate shipment.
  • Participate in process improvements, increasing efficiencies and reducing operational costs. Help to develop and maintain process documentation and training materials.
  • Utilize warehouse related systems and hardware as needed, following all safety procedures related to the task and the safety of yourself and others at all times.
  • Learn and master ERP and other systems related to the distribution function.
  • Maintain safe operating practices in accordance with OSHA and Coolibar requirement, as well as good housekeeping conditions within the department/warehouse.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Management.
  • Some college preferred.
  • 1+ years of work experience in successful team leadership. Experience in training employees is a plus.
  • 1+ years of work experience with fulfillment and inventory control procedures.
  • Good computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience using inventory / ERP software.
  • Forklift experience a plus.
  • Excellent math, reading and writing skills required.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to positively influence and motive team members and willingness to run the floor.
  • Team player who is self-motivated, driven, and able to work independently.
  • Flexible availability on start/end time as business is seasonal hours may fluctuate. Must be available to work overtime and on weekends.
  • Ability to work on your feet most of the day. Ability to grasp, feel, push, pull, reach, and stoop, complete receptive motions and lift up to 50lbs.
