Rated 3 out of 5 by from S/M circumference is way smaller than La Plata S/M Wow! These S/M Virasana gaiters are so much smaller than the S/M La Plata gaiters--comically so! I was thinking about altering them until a light bulb went off in my head that maybe they're just supposed to fit differently than the La Plata gaiters? They're definitely more breathable worn than the (already breathable) La Plata gaiters are, but I suppose that's the case with anything when it's stretched out. The stretch circumference in the item description indicates that it stretches out to 24 inches. Coolibar, are these gaiters still UPF 50+ while stretched out to 24 inches circumference? If so, do like that they breath more comfortably then the already breathable La Plata gaiters and may leave them unaltered. If not then they'll either need to be altered or tossed in the trash pile. :( One tiny detail: the wider hem on the La Plata gaiter sits more comfortably underneath the eyes than the slightly more narrow hem on the Virasana gaiter and much more comfortably underneath the eyes than the very narrow hem on the Alverstone sun mask. I've taken to cutting my La Plata gaiters in half lengthwise since the extra length gathered around the neck just makes them uncomfortably warm and sweaty, but the genius discovery I've made is that wearing the two halves around the lower and upper halves of my face protects as much area as the Alverstone sun mask while sitting much, much more comfortably underneath the eyes! Of course, the Alverstone sun mask protects a few inches below the neck via the ring of material across the shoulders. However, I think I have enough extra length to snip open a few inches along the bottom of the longer half that I wear on my lower face (similar to the Key West gaiter) and sew in a triangular patch of material to create a similar ring around the shoulders as the Alverstone sun mask. Should I have to make so many revisions to Coolibar's expensive sun protective pieces? No, but, by doing so, it allows me to create a sun mask that protects the same areas as the Alverstone while sitting more comfortably underneath the eye area--and, as a bonus, *without* the unnecessary extra layers of fabric over the mouth and nose, which overall make the revision much more comfortable and breathable to wear than the Alverstone. Now, since the S/M Virasana gaiter stretched out over my face breathes more comfortably than the S/M La Plata gaiter that does *not* stretch out over the face, I'm thinking, Coolibar, if the Virasana is still UPF 50+ while stretched out up to 24" in circumference, I may just make the same revisions to it that I've made to my La Plata gaiters that now protect more comfortably than the Alverstone sun mask. However, if the Virasana gaiters are *not* still UPF 50+ while stretched out up to 24" in circumference, then I will either a) have to tear them open lengthwise, along the long hem in the back, and sew the top hem to the lower hem (remember they are unnecessarily long and the extra material gathered around the neck just traps heat; therefore, the gaiter could be stitched together by substituting the unnecessarily long length with the too-narrow width if necessary), or b) toss them in the trash pile. But what I would really love, COOLIBAR(!), is for you to make an Alverstone mask out of the Virasana's Athlon fabric; with wider, flatter hems that sit more comfortably around the eye area; and *without* the unnecessary extra layers over the nose and mouth area that actually make the mask less breathable instead of more breathable. By the way, what's the basis of the "antimicrobial protection infused at the fiber level" of Virasana's Athlon fabric? I hope it's not Triclosan or some Triclosan-similar chemical that exacerbates antibacterial resistance and is also a suspected endocrine disruptor. Otherwise, these definitely go on the trash heap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, runs small The fabric is very comfortable. I use it running, biking, and hiking in AZ (the last two in Phx). I was surprised how small the L/XL was. It fits me fine, but the smaller size would be too small. (I wear size small in shirts, and am 5'-10'', 145 pounds.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not thrilled w/neck gaiter There's room for improvement- does it cover your neck? Yes. but because its is just a tube, one circumference, it doesn't cover anything below the neck. You'll have a gap between your gator and t-shirt or if wearing a button up would have to button shirt to your neck for coverage. It does not cover like the picture. It's not ideal and all sun gaiters seem to have the same issue. Starting with a SPF fabric that has more drape would help.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It was extremely big! I don't understand how big everyone's heads are that have placed reviews, but I am a female with a 56cm head measurement. I normally would have ordered the S/M, but after reading all the reviews and seeing how women were complaining that the S/M size fit was too tight and the men were complaining that the L/XL fit was too tight, I thought I'd surely be safe to order 3 of the L/XL. THEY ARE HUGE! I now have overpriced gaiters that don't stay up and have to pay to have them altered to get any use out of them. This was a total waste of money as they can't be returned, even if the packaging wasn't opened.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Neck Gaiter for Ants What is this? A gaiter for ants? I got the XL thinking it'd be a bit big. This thing BARELY fits! I have to take my glasses off and make sure my hair is down to try to get it on. Turns out, my head is 22.5inches. You'd think an XL unisex item would fit an average sized women's head no problem. Snug fit on my face once it's on so that's good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protection from sun Great product. I got this to protect my face from the sun (melasma) and it does the job! Very comfortable, I tried to run with it on but it’s a bit difficult to breath in when exercising in my opinion.
