HOW TO MEASURE YOUR RIGHT SIZE
Use a soft tape measure.
- Height: Stand in stocking feet, with feet together, back to the wall. Measure from crown of head to the floor
- Arm: Bend arm to 90 degrees. Place hand on hip. Start at center of back of neck measure across the shoulder to the elbow and down to the wrist. Number on inches equals your sleeve length.
- Bust/Chest: With the arms relaxed down at sides, measure fullest part of bust/chest, keeping tape parallel to floor.
- Hip: Stand with heels together, keeping tape straight and parallel to the floor. Measure around fullest part.
- Neck: Measure around base of the neck (the lowest point of the neck). Number of inches equals the neck size.
- Inseam: Take a pair of pants that fits you well. Measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the hem. Number of inches equals inseam length.
- Rise: Start the tape at the center back waist, run the tape between your legs, pulling comfortably at the crotch and up your natural waist. Total measurement is your rise.
- Waist: Measure around your waist, against your skin (not over your shirt or pants) at the height you normally wear your pants.
- Head: Measure around your head, from the center of your forehead, keeping tape straight and parallel to the floor. Measure around fullest part.

Strap easily detaches
Strap easily becomes detached - it is affixed by minimum (and not very strong Velcro) on one side. The loose strap drives my son crazy. There is no way to full detach the strap either. We bought this for the beach to avoid a hat being blown off but this will not work.

Great hats, great protection!
These hats were too cute on my 2 boys. They both wore size S (3 and 5 years old), and the fit was pretty spot on. The hat does have an elastic cord that allows adjusting for a tighter fit. They wore them for a few days in a row, one of which was a 10 mile mountain hike with wind gusts probably up to 30 mph...they never once needed adjusting and the rim kept sun off of their face and neck the entire time.

Poor workmanship and design
I am surprised by a poor workmanship. I had to fix 2 thing right out of the box:
1. Top stitching on the crown - the thread end was not secured and the stitching was already unraveling.
2. Chin cord end with breakaway feature was stitched only half-way.
I had to finish the stitch. If I would not know how to sew, it would go back.
Website description was "Easy care: hand wash cold, line dry" but the tag care attached to the had said "Spot cleaning", not hand-wash.
I did not like how chin cord with breakaway feature was designed and implemented - the hard texture of the fabric bothered my child until I figured out how to make it better.
I might just take it out by removing the harsh piece of fabric and sewing the cord to the hat, like the other end.
The breakaway end of the cord was assembled incorrectly and it was pulling the internal sweatband down.
I was always help Coolibar in high regard until now :(.
