Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best. It’s comfortable and breathable, in my opinion. But I don’t think it does an excellent job at blocking UV rays. I held this mask (and other coolibar masks and gloves) to the light and you can see little holes of sun getting to the sun. In addition, I slightly tanned while wearing this, which is unacceptable to me. I use this mask for all day outdoor adventures and I do not want to worry about skin damage. This let me down. Once when I used the gloves on a summer midday bike ride, my hands had little holes of tan/red from where the sun went through. This is baffling to me coming from a company who only makes UPF clothing and prides themselves on that. Disappointed to say the least.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much more convenient than wearing sunscreen! I love this mask! Because of the nose opening, it’s more breathable than wearing a neck gaiter over the lower half of my face, and with sunglasses, it basically protects everything from the neck up. I much prefer wearing UPF-rated clothing than sunscreen since it doesn’t have to be reapplied or require me to keep track applications. It’s just slip it on and forget about it. I’m not a fan of the nose wire though. It doesn’t fulfill its intended function and is uncomfortable. I poked the end of the wire through the fabric and removed it shortly after trying it on for the first time and fumbling—unsuccessfully—with adjustments. I also intend to either trim the bottom seam of the nose opening off and resew a new seam—OR—add a few stitches to fold down the bottom seam of the nose opening. Then, it will be absolutely perfect! Overall, I’m very satisfied with the coverage, breathability, fit, and convenience of this mask. Thanks for keeping me safe, Coolibar!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mouth and Nose holes need to be reworked I bought this about 8 months ago. It does a good job in coverage, but I can never adjust it to where when I breathe it doesn't fog my glasses and also it doesn't let me breathe unrestricted. I am constantly fiddling with the nose and mouth openings. Going to look for something else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design of mouth and nose holes I recently bought this balaclava. The nose and the mouth holes don't line up with my nose and mouth at all. They are also not open holes, in that they have to be pushed open by the mouth, or the balaclava scrunched up on the nose for the nose hole to be open. Quite disappointed. Overall the balaclava fits very loose and baggy too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from innovative but hard to breath, may spook on-lookers I used this after having fractional laser on my face and neck. My dermatologist instructed me not to use sunscreen until after day 10 post procedure. I was only to use a prescription $200 hyaluronic acid and top it off with Cerave ointment as new skin came on as she did not want an irritation that could lead to scarring. I paid thousands for the procedure so I did not intend to mess it up either but I still had to drive during the day, pick up kids from school. So I used this with sunglasses while I was in the car. While picking up my kids from school, I opened it up to exposed my face because I did not want to alarm or raise suspicion. It was a little hard to breathe so I could only use only few minutes at a time even with the slit on the nose. I wish I could this all the time while driving to and fro and walking to my building from my car. Over 15 years ago, I would buy hats and swimwear from Coolibar and people were ignorant and I would get questions like why long sleeve rash guards and big hats in the sun. People are more educated now about sun safety although culturally, I feel some people may view other people wearing this as "strange " and some may be alarmed seeing a covered head. I personally felt self-conscious wearing it if I was around people. I am ready to use this for longer sun exposure use if it was easier to breathe in. Culturally, I think I may spook people out walking of driving around in this in a suburban environment at this time; but hopefully this will change.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Please make easier for women to wear I love this mask! Wear it when driving and hiking. Yes I get looks (and honks from passing cars) but finally have peace of mind that my fair, sensitive skin is adequately protected from the intense Houston sun. If not for this mask, I would not be able to enjoy outdoor activities as frequently or at my convenience (ie only at dusk and dawn). Also, I'm able to continue receiving my IPL treatments during the summer. The material is very lightweight and breathable and I do not get overheated, even in 98 degree weather. Only complaint is that this mask does not have a ponytail hole. I understand that it is unisex, but adding a hole wouldn't affect the functionality, and hey...men can have long hair too! Will most likely be cutting a hole in mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this mask I just received my sun mask in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to try it out today. I am doing a series of chemical peels so I need to be even more careful than usual about sun exposure. I try to limit my sun exposure but I've got 3 dogs that still need walking! I had been using spf 50 zinc oxide slathered thickly on my face (and hands) but it's nice not to have all that on my face. I still use a spf 30 oil of olay under the mask in case I have to remove it for some reason and zinc oxide on the areas on bridge of nose ,temples, etc on areas not covered by the mask. And put a wide brimmed hat on also so I'm hoping to have achieved as close to as possible total sun block of my face. And now I don't have to tie 2 bandanas around my neck . The only problem is that I'm not comfortable breathing through the mask and my sunglasses fog up so I altered my mask a little by cutting a bigger mouth hole in it but I'll need a little zinc oxide around my mouth now. My husband thinks that I look ridiculous but does like my nice skin! I'm just glad that we walk the dogs on a trail through the woods where we don't see anyone else! I'm not sure if I will drive with it or not. My husband made me promise just not to wear it into the bank! LOL! Now I just need to order some fingerless gloves so I don't have to keep applying sunblock to the backs of my hands. I'm so glad that I discovered Coolibar's website.
